Chaka Camp is a cherished mobile tented camp found within the large Serengeti ecosystem. ‘Chaka’ is a word that comes from kichaka’ a local Swahili word that means ‘bush’.
This Chaka Camp is well located and runs on the customized solar system as a power supply. The fabrics in the rooms are hand-woven African designs, while the furniture at the camp was requested and crafted by artists in Arusha with Tanzania.
With Tanzania’s 30 years of tourism experience between them, the owners Stacy Readal plus Hezron Mbise have emerged their safari plus business backgrounds to build Chaka Camp. Stacy together with Hezron invite you to their camp and welcome you to enjoy the passion for the people as well as wildlife of Tanzania.
LOCATION
Chaka Camp, created to be light-weight enough to be moved seasonally, is situated within the Ndutu area starting in December up to March. Then from May up to November, the camp relocates into Central Serengeti.
From December up to March, the Great wildebeest migration goes into and out of the Ndutu area. The Ndutu area is found within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, immediately south of the renowned Serengeti National Park. The ideal location of the camp offers quick access to leading game viewing regions close to Lake Ndutu plus Lake Masek. Besides the nearly 2 million wildebeests and zebras that go through this area annually, Ndutu is habitat to cheetahs, lions, giraffes plus many hundreds of species of birds. During the calving season in February, nearly 8000 wildebeest are produced each day.
Seronera, found in the middle of Serengeti National Park, provides game view throughout the year and it is actually the finest place to see the large cats. Actually from here you can also get to other prime Serengeti areas like the River Grumeti Ecosystem, Lobo, Retina Hippo as well as the Moru Kopjes.
